PCB West 2017 Recap (Sierra Circuits Guest Post)
This post was written by Lucy Iantosca of Sierra Circuits. Read the original post here. Stay tuned for interviews with Zuken’s Steve Watt, Manager of PCB Engineering and Humair Mandavia, Chief Strategy Officer, which will be added to this post when available.
On Wednesday, September 13, Sierra Circuits welcomed visitors at booth #408 during the PCB West Exhibition Day. PCB West has always been our favorite trade show to attend, obviously, and this year was no exception. We are really proud of sponsoring such a great event, which gathered about 90 companies.
Our sales and marketing teams presented Sierra’s new online service Turnkey Pro, which allows customers to order PCBs entirely online from fabrication to assembly. Rachel, our Graphic/UI Designer, said, “Attendees loved our Turnkey Pro demos! We showed them how easy this new tool is to use. They were impressed to see they could check their BOM, easily choose components and get a full turnkey quote and place an order in just 5 minutes.”
Sierra’s Sales Representatives Julia and Hayley loved the good energy on the booth. “There is always a lot of activity during PCB West. I find this trade show interactive and very relevant to what we do,” Julia said. Hayley added, “We had meaningful conversations with the attendees since they all have PCB needs we can help them with. This is a really good trade show!”
Indeed, one of the best things about PCB West is the opportunity to meet people from the industry, and talk about what’s new. If you could not attend the event, we conducted several interviews with speakers so you can hear about their companies’ new products, the upcoming trends, and their best tips for PCB designers.
Just to give you a teaser of what is coming, we sat down with Steve Watt, Manager of PCB Engineering at Zuken. He discussed the designing of flexible PCBs, Zuken’s CR-8000 product, and he shared a tip for PCB designers, “Know your tool. Tools have a lot of functionalities, understand what their capabilities are to avoid mistakes and delays.”
We later met Vince Di Lello, Senior Principal Product Engineer at Cadence Design Systems, who told us, “Never stop learning about PCB design. Come to shows like PCB West and talk to experts. PCBs are so complex these days that you have to keep educating yourself.” He then explained what a STEP model is and how Allegro supports the MCAD-ECAD Co-Design.
